How to Burn California White Sage
For a total cleansing of your home, open all of your doors and windows of the space to be cleared. You are creating an exit point for old energies. Use a long-handled lighter, candle, or match stick to light the herbs till it begins to smoke. Once you see a flame, put out the fire so that the herb is smoldering, not burning. Please make sure you properly extinguish the smudge sticks after use. Keep ready a fireproof container such as a glass or ceramic dish or abalone shell to put the smudge in when you're done with it. It's ideal to extinguish out the herb in sand or simply press it against the bottom of the fireproof container. Always ensure that a smoldering smudge herb is out before leaving the room.
